Kaneshige Yuho was born in 1950 in Inbe, Bizen City into a family steeped in pottery tradition. After studying at the Department of Sculpture at Musashino Art University, he entered the pottery path and started working with his father, Sozan Kaneshige (1909 - 1995), who was a well-known master of. "Cha-tou" (tea ceremony ware). His simple-shaped works fired with wood are eloquent in appearance with its warm colour and slightly strained shape. His works are popular in Japan and widely exhibited. He has also received the Japanese Ceramic Prize for his work.
